Getting robots to take giant steps over gaps while maintaining balance is not always straight forward. Guangdong University of Technology researchers are tackling this problem by using small ducted fans embedded in the feet of robots. The goal is to change the robot’s center of gravity to allow it to maintain balance while crossing wide gaps.
The Jet-HR1 weighs 6.5kg, measuring 65 centimeters. These jet engines enable robots to dynamically adjust their center of mass without ground contact.
