Robot bees have been around for a while. Researchers are coming up with new sophisticated versions all the time. Harvard researchers have come up with a hybrid RoboBee that can fly, dive, swim, and explode out of water. It has 4 buoyant and a central gas collection chamber. An electrolytic plate in the chamber converts water into oxyhydrogen.

Aerial-Aquatic Microrobot
The robot is very light, making it ideal for environmental monitoring and biological studies. Harvard will explore commercialization opportunities of this idea in the future.
