Developing bipedal robots that can maintain their balance as they move is easier said than done. These robots will have to be able to react to uneven terrains and unexpected conditions. The CAREN treadmill can be used for training. It features a 6 degrees-of-freedom movable platform and motion capture system. As this video shows, this robot can be tested on such a platform to see its suitability for real-world scenarios.
