Humanoid robots are going to replace humans in taking on dangerous or physically demanding tasks. Robots must be able to balance in challenging environments. DLRRMC’s latest video shows a multi-contact balancing mechanism to keep a TORO robot balanced. The robot can use its hands and feet to keep its balance.

The experiments were performed on gym mats, rocks, and while on one leg. More information is available here.
