Robots can do many things for us at hospitals. As it turns out, they can be great at sampling blood. A Rutgers-led team has created a blood sampling robot that can perform better than humans. It provides quick results, allowing healthcare professionals to treat more people.
This ultrasound image-guided robot draws blood from veins on its own. It has modules for handling samples and a centrifuge-based blood analyzer. The next step is to improve the robot in handling patients with difficult to access veins.
