Researchers Develop Winged Microchip That Could Monitor Air Pollution, Disease

In the past few years, we have covered plenty of tiny drones here. Northwestern University engineers are taking it to the next level by adding flying capability to an electronic microchip. The microflier is the smallest human-made flying structure. The engineers optimized its  aerodynamics by studying maple trees and wind-dispersed seeds.

These tiny flying structures can be packed with sensors, antennas, and other tech. The above video has more info on them. This approach can be used to monitor air pollution and airborne disease.
