Soft robots have many applications. They can perform tasks that not possible with rigid robots. They can even be used for medical procedures. Researchers have now come up with electro-morphing gel (e-MG) robots that have no internal wiring. They simply move under electric fields. Researchers came up with a snail robot that can jump across a gap by stretching and contracting its soft body.

To build these robots, researchers used a soft elastomer, a dielectric liquid, and paracrystalline carbon nanoparticles. When exposed to electric fields, this material changes it shape in a reversible fashion.
