There is no better way to learn electronics and robotics than building and programming your own robots. BIMThoughts has put together a guide that shows you how to build your own Raspberry Pi controlled scissor lift. It relies on the PI unit to turn on the LX-16A servo to raise and lower the lift. The code is written in Python.
