In the future, advanced robots will be used for space exploration. Researchers are working on ways to enhance existing robots. This video from Robomechanics Lab shows how rover wheels can be used for terrain manipulation. Nonprehensile terrain manipulation can be used to remove soil to sample below the surface or make the area easier to cross for another robot.

The above video shows how the KREX-2 rover can clear rocks for a smaller robot to pass through. Pretty clever, don’t you think?
