Here is an insect inspired robot that can grasp a wide variety of objects. Insecter is tarsus inspired robotic gripper for versatile grasping. It has a “single cable-driven, compliant gripper design.” Soft adhesive pads with an asymmetric sawtooth-like surface structure are attached at the tarsus segments to allow it to grasp and hold objects.
This gripper was used to grasp 35 different objects of various sizes, shapes, and weights.
