There is no better way to learn robotics than building your own robots. Boney the skeleton robot dog is a project worth a look. It is controlled with Arduino MEGA and programmed with Visuino. The plastic skeleton can be modified to allow mounting of servos and leg joints to bend. The robot has 8 servos in addition to a stepper motor to wag its tail.
