Caltech Engineers Develop Bionic Jellyfish That Swims Faster

😎 New DIY robot kits

Researchers are always looking for new ways to augment our capabilities through bionics. Caltech engineers have developed a tiny prosthetic device that enables jellyfish to swim faster and more efficiently.

Jellyfish do not have brain or pain receptors but they secrete mucus when stressed. That wasn’t the case during this experiment. The prosthetic uses electrical impulses to regulate the pulsing motion of jellyfish. It is neutrally buoyant on water.
