Here is a roving biologger that can travel along a sperm whale’s body surface to capture data. A team of researchers at Yamagata University and Teikyo University of Science developed this robot to improve the visibility of a sperm whale’s mouth area. It uses the water current generated from the swimming whale as a power source.
This rover traveled across a flat acrylic surface at a depth of 500m, so it is ready for deep sea missions.
