The idea of robots sweating to stay cool is nothing new. Soft robots are cheaper to make and more flexible but they often trap heat. Scientists have now built soft robots that can sweat. Their 3D-printed soft robot fingers are hollow like balloons. The body is made with a resin that shrinks when heated above 40 degrees, while the back has microscopic pores, which remain closed at cooler temperatures.
At high temperatures, the pores open wide to allow water in each finger to sweat out. The above video shows how these robot fingers work.
