In the past few years, we have covered plenty of insect inspired robots for inspection and other tasks. Researchers at the University of Washington have now developed a wireless robotic camera that can ride on an insect to see what it sees. The camera can stream video to a smartphone.
The camera mounts on the back of a beetle and can be steered over 60 degrees based on commands from a smartphone. The actuator and electronics weigh only 248mg.
