Unitree’s humanoid robots have gotten a lot of coverage in the media. They are versatile and capable of doing a lot of tasks with the right kind of training. Caltech researchers have come up with a way to mount a transforming drone on its back. This multimodal robot can walk, drive, and fly, giving you the best of all worlds. As they explain, the challenge was how to get all these robots together.
Researchers used data from LiDAR and other sensors to help these robots understand where they are. The drone has a TII’s advanced flight controller. It can launch from the humanoid’s back and drive away.
