Plenty of robots have been inspired by animals and insects. A team of EPFL researchers havs developed 10-gram robots inspired by ants. They can communicate with each other to complete tasks. These robots can be given different roles and configured as a follower, leader, worker, or coordinator.
These reconfigurable ant bots can jump and crawl to explore uneven terrains. The above video shows them in action.
