Autonomous inspection of powerlines with quadcopters is easier said that done. UZH Robotics and Perception Group have come up with a new method to get it done safely. They have used event cameras to track powerlines. Multiple distinct lines can be detected in real-time.
This tracker has a detection range of up to 320 thousand events per second. It lasts longer too.
