Meet the OMOY: an interesting robot that conveys its emotions and intentions by shifting its weight. It has a 250 tungsten metal inside its body that is attached to a translational and rotational mechanism to move along a 2D planar space.
The researchers experimented with 36 weight shift patterns and found out that specific weight shift patterns with different target position, trajectory, speed, and frequency parameters can be used to express various emotions and intentions.
