Here is a wearable system designed to reduce fatigue in soldiers, search & rescue workers, and firefighters. A multidisciplinary team at Harvard’s Wyss Institute and Harvard SEAS developed this mobile multi-joint soft exosuit with automatic tuning.

As the researchers explain, the system consists of textile apparel components worn at the waist, thighs, and calves. Mechanical forces are guided to them to support ankle and hip joints to assist with leg movements on uneven terrains. The tuning method uses the sensors to optimize the power delivered at the joints. Such a solution can be adapted to healthy and disabled adults.
