Teaching robots to step over large gaps is easier said than done. This video shows how a ducted-fan propulsion system can be used to improve humanoid robots’ ability to step over large ditches.
This new method involves using the robot’s posture during 3D stepping to minimize the thrust. The landing point can be in forward and side directions. For this test, Jet-HR1 was used to step over ditches with 450mm in width.
