Remember the Harvard RoboBee? It is a small flapping wing robot inspired by insects. These can be used for disaster surveillance and search & rescue missions. It now has gotten a landing gear inspired by the crane fly. It helps them transition from air to ground. The robot also has an updated controller that helps with deceleration.
The above video shows this robot in action. This is currently based on a tethered system. The team will work on giving the robot sensor, power, and other features to enhance its capabilities.
