Robots are going to do many things for us in space. Plenty of researchers are working on perfecting them. Take GITAI’s S1 robot for instance: it is designed to automate internal and external tasks on the space station.
The S1 is semi-autonomous and semi-teleoperated. It has 8 degrees of freedom and max reach of 1m. The robot can manipulate switches/tools and conduct science experiments on its own.
