These Firefly Inspired Insect Scale Robots from MIT Emit Light When They Fly

MIT researchers have come up with insect-scale robots that emit light when they fly, which enables motion tracking and communication. They have electroluminescent soft artificial muscles to control their wings. This approach enables these robots to communicate with each other. For instance, they can use lights to signal others in complex missions.
