Drones are being used for surveillance, reconnaissance, and search & rescue missions. They are prone to tipping over though. Researchers have used beetles as inspiration to develop a self-righting mechanism for drones. EPFL researchers used beetles shell structured wings called elytra on a fixed wing drone to enable it to recover.
