Project Dart: Autonomous Drone Landing on 110 km/h Moving Vehicle

😎 New DIY robot kits

Landing drones on high speed moving vehicles is a challenge even when done by humans. Researchers have come up with an autonomous way of doing it. DART enables drones to land in harsh outdoor conditions. They will be able to land on moving vehicles at speeds up to 110km/h. This approach is based on reverse trust and shock absorbers.

This approach allows drones to rapidly descend toward the vehicle while leveling at the end. It has a success rate of above 80% up to 100 km/h. The DART UAV weighs 2.4kg. It has max velocity of 126km/h.
