Festo is behind some of the coolest bio-inspired robots we have seen. Their DHEF is also worth a look. It is an adaptive robot gripper inspired by a chameleon‘s tongue. It can grip a wide variety of objects reliably when combined with a pneumatic drive.
The DHEF can handle objects of various shapes and aligned objects. It has max gripping speed of 120mm/s.
