Cyborg cockroaches developed by scientists from NTUsg and Waseda University were originally designed for search and rescue. They were used after an earthquake in Myanmar in March last year. They now have the ability to search for survived in flooded areas. This diving suit has an oxygen sensor that is attached to the roach’s breathing openings to enable them to survive under water for up to 3 hours.
With this approach, cyborg cockroaches can be used in flooded tunnels to locate disaster victims.
