Here is a robotic wheelchair by EPFL researchers that allows users to move around in crowds safely. CrowdBot scientists used Qolo for their tests. It comes with two motorized wheels and a passive exoskeleton to let wearers move easily from a seated to a standing position. It was modified to analyze and react to its surroundings through an active navigation system.

The scientists enhanced the robot with various sensors, including cameras on the front and a LiDAR system with lasers on the front and back. It can detect all kinds of obstacles. The robot also has bumpers to measure contact forces. You can find out more about this project here.
