Pleurobot, developed by researchers at Switzerland’s EPFL, happens to be a bio-inspired robot that adapts how it moves to navigate uneven terrain. It changes its gait pattern to overcome obstacles.

The robot is inspired by a salamander, so it can swim and walk. It is cable of aquatic stepping. It has 27 joints and a low center of mass. Its flexible spine makes it ideal for search and rescue scenarios.
