😎 New DIY robot kits

Robotic surgeons are nothing new. In the future, they will be used to perform eye surgery and other complex operations. Axsis is a dexterous robotic surgeon that can perform cataract surgery. It measures 1.8mm in diameter and has 2 robotic arms to allow surgeons to perform telesurgery. Sensing algorithms minimize human error.

Unlike other surgical robots, Axsis has a compact body. Here is how Cambridge Consultants build their prototype:

by using flexible instead of straight instruments – novel motor and control configurations can be used, allowing the overall size of the robot to be reduced significantly, and eliminating the need for a large range of motion outside the body. With the right instrument design, the outer diameter of the minimally invasive access point can also be reduced.

Mini robot delicate enough to perform cataract surgery

Such miniature robotic systems can be used to perform other complex procedures.  More information is available here.
